So I been working on my truck during the weekends. I had bolts (3) break off into the exhaust manifold. Got those drilled out and took off a manifold of a donor 360 we have over here. Got the everything back together and it took care of the leake from the old cracked manifold. Rebuilt the Carb and is all nice and clean. Threw it back on and the 360 sounded great. It actually stays on now. The issue I have now it with the fast cam I'm not sure how to set it. The screw was not touching anything like it looks like it should. There's a vacuum on the left side of the carb backside something about a tube that runs from the manifold to the carb? Also the truck will turn on but it idles low like it wants to turn off then bam revs high. Once I rev it one good time I guess the choke opens and revs back down an cuts off. So any help would be great. Also next to the trottle lever there another lever that just flops there don't know what it's for
sounds like the throttle is sticking. if it's a plate, change it. if it has something to do wif a timing belt, change tat. sounds like a 360 block for which car? it'll be more straightforward if it was any of the boss engines. u noe, anything over a 400 block. i'd be able to find my way around tat one. lol.
It's a 360 from a 71 F250. The throttle seems fine. I adjusted the choke to barely open and it stayed on perfect idles a little high but once the choke is backed off just a hair it dies.
Well on the carb on the left side there's a vacuum effect. I was told that there is supposed to be two lines goig from that part to the exhaust manifold to bring in hot air to the carb

That kinda sounds like EGR doesn't it? But in my limited experience, I associate EGR to go hand in hand with fuel injection, so (I know your's is carburetted, but) shouldn't this truck be too old to have EGR?
If it's just a carb heater, I would think you should be able to just plug it and be fine.

I had a similar problem with my old '86 and spent more money than I care to think about with my mechanic and then ultimately a dealer trying to fix it to no avail. Ultimately I decided I was just going to have to live with it.
Years later; I decided to replace my battery cables one day for no better reason than just to have clean new cables. By pure coincidence that pestering start-up problem was solved. All those years and dollars and it was just a bad ground on a battery cable the whole time.
I hope all your probs can be easy fixers, Driz.
Thanks for the cool video and keep us posted.
Na no EGR here, I feel dumb cause the other day I was like I think my firing order is wrong, but I didn't have a the firing order with me so I didn't check, had a friend come ore while I was gone and guess what.... The firing order was wrong..... FML
Alot better than before, only issue I had was a loud whistle coming from the carb which was due to a incorrect gasket at the base and spacer. All I have now is a bit of jumpy acceleration going into second upon clutch release and acceleration
