Exclamation HELP! Any one around Vancouver, WA?

With help of another FTE (and HAMB) member, LowKat, I was able to locate a correct exhaust manifold for my 52. However, the seller doesn't appear to be too thrilled about shipping it. I'm looking for someone to assist me in purchasing it from him and shipping to me. I will pay for expenses.

Please PM or email me for details if you can help. I'd like to do this asap as he has had other calls on it.

Thanks!

Here's some eye candy for ya buddy

Now here's the only suspected spot where I found what *might* be a crack. Could easily be a casting flaw too. But this is all I could find.

And the quest wasn't all that bad for me either.... I scored these re-plated '53 car grille pieces (tiny blems in each one of them, but good for a driver), the pieces above the grille, as well as some window seal stainless pieces all for $100 from the same guy.

All in all, I'd say it was a good day of 'pickin'

Great thread. This is what makes these forums so valuable. I can see why the seller of that manifold might have a hesitation to ship. Shipping out of country does make it a PIA also. WO good detailed packing those ears could be history quite easy. I would bolt that thing to a solid board and pack around it. I shipped a flathead six manifold one time and was very concern about packing. It made it thru ok as I packed it as mentioned. The one I shipped had no carb attached.

I can't thank Dan enough for doing this. He pestered the seller until the guy was able to get to his "storage" 20 minutes away to sell the exhaust manifold assembly. If I could give Dan a million rep points, I would!

Now the fun part will be trying to get it to me in one piece.

Just give him 10 points every time you're on here. Shouldn't take too long to get to a million...

Awww... geez, thanks guys. Truth is i usually don't get a whole lotta time to do stuff as I'm a single dad with two kids (10 & 3). Mainly just on weekends. However when 51Panelman contacted me I had taken that week off from work and being it was right close by, i saw an opportunity to be able to help him out. I'm quite sure I would have helped him either way, it just would have taken longer.

I'd like to think that any one of us would help each other out. It's sometimes tough to find parts and whatnot these days and you've gotta have some kinda network to aid the project. I'm not worrired about rep points, just glad to help out.

So yeah, now the tricky part is getting it down to him, cheaply and not having it show up looking like a jigsaw puzzle.

I like this idea... Why didn't I think of that??

We have a FTE member in England (ukmat71) who needed rear brake calipers for his '00 Excursion two years ago. Feb. 24, '10
He ordered the parts by phone from the store local to me and paid by credit card.
"Advance wants $232.02 for two calipers $50 ea, Core charge $60, Pads , (Heavy duty) $55 a set, Plus 7% tax."
I picked up the parts and mailed them to him in England.
He paid the postage to me via PayPal.
Shipping and INSURANCE ($250.00 value) was$106.60
The $338.62 was cheaper than he could find them for in England.

Forums like this one are great and Dano78 is a prime example of why. On another forum I had a purchase sent to a guy in England and he forwarded it to me. The item was half price in England so I saved a bunch. This forum has the same kind of great friends that will help out if they can and are trustworthy. BTW, the confusion between the NW Vancouvers is often made by us locals too.
