Wheel advice (aka my newer, nicer tire thread)

Truck: e99 F250, no lift or leveling. V8 gas engine.
Current tires: 36" Swampers on factory wheels.

The tires I am putting on are GoodYear Wrangler DuraTrac, 315/75-R16.
A leveling kit will be installed when the tires go on.

GoodYear's site gives the following specs: 34.8" tall, 12.3" section width, 3,860lbs@65 weight rating, an 8-10" approved rim width, with 8.5 used as the measuring rim.

The rims I am looking at are Raceline Renegade 8. According to Summit, the specs are: 4.5" backspace, 0 offset, 3,420 weight rating. They have two widths available: 8 or 10 inches.

I've read the various rim posts and I'm as confused as ever, so here are some questions...
1) What is the rating of the factory steel wheel? I want to make sure the Renegade 8's are a worthy replacement as far as strength.
2) How does the backspacing/offset compare to the factory wheel? Are there any problems you can see with the Renegade 8's?
3) Which rim width would you choose and why? Both are within the tire's accepted range. Would the 10's increase the chance of rubbing anywhere?

I would use the 10 inch wheel if you are using a 12 inch tire. If you would use a 8 inch wheel with a 12 inch tire, you would have a lot of bulge in the sidewall of the tire which would make the front end wander all over road.

Does anyone have the weight rating of the factory wheels (I have steel)?

As far as the aftermarket rims- will choosing 10" over the 8" increase the possibility of rubbing, or does it make much of a difference at the tread end of the tire?

It's not going to make any difference at the tread, as that's going to be 12.5" regardless of rim diameter. Not sure about closer to the wheel though.

Thanks. So the Renegade 8's are about the same weight capacity rating as the factory wheels. And neither rim width should cause any more rubbing than the other right? Both sizes have the same backspace, so that means the extra 2 inches on the 10" are on the "pretty" side of the wheel, correct?

But more BS on the "pretty" side means you'll backside the fender liner sooner. I had 35x12.50s that rubbed under a 2" lift, but now I clear 34.5s with no lift because they're sucked in tighter.

For you though, balancing rubbing the leaves vs the liner is more impt.
