How to find what alternator I have
hey all. I just got done having some testing done. Voltage regulator is going bad. So shat I need to know it, how to do I find my alternators amp rating? Autozone has 3 different ones available for different amp ratings.
Rock Auto also has 3 different ratings.
So if y’all have a website or something that can help me figure out which I need without leaving myself without a vehicle that’d be fantastic.

I couldn't tell what truck you were talking about and had to dig around your profile.
If this is the 93 and a gas engine, it should have a 3G alt and if factory it will be a 95amp.
95A will have 4 holes on the front whereas a 130A from an Explorer/Mustang etc will have 2 holes in it.
Unless you have serious tunes and a winch a 95A will probably be sufficient.

When the OEM in my 93 finally died at more than 220k miles, I installed the 130A listed as for an Explorer.
Just a few bucks more, but really is unnecessary in my case.
If you need the extra amperage it would be a good move to upgrade the charge wire and consider adding a fuse to the picture (or go to wrecking yard and get the factory fusible link and charge wire for the explorer w/ the 130A alt).
