have a broken fuel tank selector rocker switch mount? a simple fix.
so back along i mistakenly broke one of the mounts right off one of my fuel selector switch mounts and the poor thing was hopelessly hanging in the bezel looking like it belonged in an old broken down work truck instead of a nicely kept one. if you ever went to use it,you sure had to be careful not to brake the bottom mount off!
so today i was behind there again installing a couple switches for some aux lights when i decided the bezel wasn't going back in without a good secured fuel rocker switch this time.
the cure was very easy.simply look around for a nice thick rugged not flexible straight flat bar stock and make sure you have a couple holes for screws.
grab some self tappers and follow the pic.pretty self explanatory here.
use some good size screws.notice two are important here! one wouldn't do the trick.also notice by screwing in here, your safely behind the trim so nothing gets exposed! perfect!
just be sure to start your self tappers, and if they're too long, just remove them long before you risk exiting your trim!!!! cut them very short.just enough to reach fully into the first layer of plastic is all you need.inspect the face and line up the switch properly.screw them in via a screw driver by hand this time,so you don't strip them.just fairly snug now! be careful.
set her back in,and you'll notice a clean looking rocker switch and no longer moves around when used.nice a rigid.
often it's these little things that bug us about our old trucks, but sometimes you just don't want to take the time to search salvage yards for a replacement part,or figure it's not worth the money,so you just live with it.but when it's something free.......... get 'er done!
