I have an 06 f350 with a 5.4l gas engine. It has a 38 gallon tank and for some reason when I try to pump gas into the tank it just keeps clicking the the pump off like it's already full.It takes me forever to fill the tank.
I have the same problem, I always just thought it was the gas pumps themself.. I have to hold it at a certain angle for it to work at all.. Luckily I only have to put $20 a week into the tank..
I had the same problem with mine and I took off the vent filter and blew air through it and also blew air back though the canister to the tank and it seemed to have fixed it. It is worth a try since a new caniter is several hundred bucks

I'll try that.If it doesn't work could i just eliminate the canister?I think that would be the simple solution, but would it cause other problems?
would rather eliminate the stupid thing since it costs around $300.00 the tsb says to inspect the canister to see if it's dirt clogged.Isn't the thing sealed, how could you tell if it's "dirt clogged"?

I'm fairly certain if you eliminate it you'll have a constant check engine light - there is a sensor back there. Now whether or not that can be disabled or tricked I don't know.I have the same problem w/ mine but I'm going to try blowing it out. I believe there's a box up there w/ a filter you can take off and blow out but don't quote me on that, I haven't been frustrated enough to take the time to look. But I don't drive the truck that often either.
This just started for me as well. I thought it was from the gas pump making too tight a seal around the full tube. It only seems to happen with newer pump heads that aren't all jacked up yet. I had no idea there was a tube and filter.
Great post...I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.
