after thoughts .....
the diamond plate i picked up at home depot. the mounting hardware is all stainless. the only bracket i used was for the rear flap and its a simple L bracket made of flat steel. i used my table saw with an old blade to cut the diamond plate. start to finish was maybe 2.5 hours? i used the rubber flaps that NAPA has (part number 10071), its thick, sturdy and doesnt sail etc. decent set up for the price. i couldnt see spending over 150 for a set and decided to have a go at it...

they look GREAT! And a hell of allot cheaper then the $200 i spent on my Duraflaps. Are they rubber so they can actually bend if you hit them on something? Because i hit my rear one a few days ago and it actually started to bed the rear fender instead of the Duraflap bending, luckily my cousin was telling me how far to back up and he caught it right in time! Needless to say the rear Duraflaps are now sitting int he garage floor!

some states have mud flap laws, if your tires stick out past the fender YOU MUST have a mud flap to stop rocks, etc from flying up and hitting someone behind you.

Good job on those!

NAPA has some great deals on mudflaps, and if you have a truck and trailer shop in your town, you can get generic, heavy duty mudflaps for cheap. What I like is that they are sold individually, and you can get many sizes - not just a size that someone else decided that you needed.

They are rubber but firm as well. No sailing going down the road. It has the same feel as what you may find on a tractor truck.

Happens to me all the time

Around here they stop you for ANYTHING they can or even make something up on the fly...........That's Connecticut. I drove by some road construction several years back and as I was driving by, slow of course, the officer yelled in my passenger window - "OVERSIZE TIRES". 1 mile down the road i got pulled over and written up. Had to put the stock tires on to go to DMV to pass re-inspection.
I put the oversize tires back on , measured and they stuck out 3/4" from the fender well...had to get some flares. I just had to shake and scratch my head. Maybe thats why my hair is falling out.

Those look really good dude. I just took my ford molded flaps off and quickly realized i need something there. Might have to make this my project for today. How did you cut that diamond plate so nicely? and did you just screw the mud flaps right on? no trimming or anything. thanks!

i used my table saw with an old blade on it. the front flaps i used two of the screws that were already on the fender and added one stainless bolt/nut/washer.

the flaps needed no trimming. they were a great size (12"x18") right off the shelf.
