Well that could be, but it sure looks like it was made for it. There is a raised section in the middle and it fits perfect.

The service sticker just says Conoco. Not much to go on, but I need to check for Conoco stations in Chillicothe.

Found a maintenance sticker on Ebay for ya Abe. You would think there would be reproductions out there some where? You're right Joe, that cover does look like it was made for it. I think mine is a rubber plug. It's been so long I can't remember. I bet Abe will get to the bottom of it Also, you better replace that one screw with a smooth head. I would hate to see you poke a hole thru that pretty new floor mat

It sure does look stock except for the mismatched screws.

Start a new thread and take a survey of 53 to 56 owners to see what kind of master cylinder hole cover plates they have.

Dave, as you might have guessed I've already looked at garage stickers on eBay. I've thought of buying one and taking it somewhere to make a magnet like it.

I'd like to find one from the garage where my grandpa and I took the 54 for service and inspection, Garman's Garage in Halfville, PA near Lititz. The Garman brothers were cousins to my mother. As was the old custom, my Mother's middle was Garman, her mother's maiden name.

I’d for sure change those brake filler plate screws to flatheads to protect your mat. Is your fuse box magnet strong enough to hold it up through the firewall cover. Maybe if it’s not you could just find a heavier, stronger, magnet.

No, the best solution is to go back to stock and get the breakers on the side of the instrument panel! . Ha ha!

Actually like Joe said earlier, bolts through the firewall and the pad.

Joe, You can bolt a piece of sheet steel to your firewall pad and firewall large enough that you can "stick" your fuse box to.

Good idea Mark. I will need to dig into this before long. I want to get a smaller box though.

I made a trip to Harbor Freight today. My father in law wanted me to get an engine for his tiller. Well, he went through the catalog before I left. He added a few things including a small welder. Well, I guess I will get my chance to learn welding sooner rather than later. I'm not sure why he wanted it, but I wasn't going to argue.
My truck is running will, but losing oil pretty badly. I'm now thinking it is leaking out of the oil pan where it bolts to the block. I wonder if there is a way to seal it off without dropping the pan and putting new gaskets in. I'm hoping to really pinpoint where it is coming from without having to replace everything. I need to wash the engine and get a better look. I lost about 1/2 a quart on the 50 mile drive. So my usage hasn't changed any.
I ran it around 55 a good portion of the way. It ran smooth. I'm thinking the mat quieted it down a little. I can't wait for my tach. It's still probably a couple of weeks out.
Of course I took pictures.

Since our Lady Pintos were playing in the elite 8 (They won and will be playing in the final 4 next weekend in class 3) I opted to head straight back home.
The internet says this guy is open today from 11 to 3. Hopefully I will get a chance to go out today. We will see.
The junkyard trip near Bolivar is off for now. Rich went there and found one that is 4.56, which doesn't help me. Another is missing an axle shaft and I'm guessing the newer dana's have a different spline count. There is another one or two there, but it's too muddy to get to them. We will hold off until it dries out some.
I wonder what it would cost to have a new carrier and ring and pinion installed? I think I can get a carrier and ring and pinion set for around $500....that's more than I want to spend, but if installation isn't too bad then it might be an option if all else fails.

Interesting night tonight. My son called around 8pm, he was driving home and his truck started overheating. He only got 15-20 miles.
He pulled into a gas station and radiator fluid is everywhere. So, I hopped in the car and made it to my parents. He got a buddy to take him back to school. Tomorrow morning bright and early, I will head there and see what we've got going on. Hopefully just a radiator hose.

Hey Art, you around? I think I will only be a few miles from you.

Thanks BJ. It ended up being a heater hose. Of course it was the fitting, so I had to drive 30 minutes to Springfield to get the part.
The hardest part was getting the clamps back on, well after the pain of getting hoses off that had been in place for 12 years.
