OT: Would you sell for a cash offer?

I went to go look at a car, took the Excursion with me. While looking at the car a guy came up to me and said "What do you want for your Excursion?" Now this guy was in torn up clothes, holes in his shoes, unshaven, etc. I was raised to never under-estimate anyone so I said to him, I think a reasonable, fair price would be $14,000 cash. He said, let's go to the bank. I was shocked. I told him I needed to think about it....what would you do?

Everything has a price (material objects, that is). But $14,000 for one of my Excursions? No way. Could not begin to replace it in any decent way for that price.

Here's the crazy part...even a Mazda SUV nowadays is going for $40k-50k new. That's ridiculous to me. You'd have to be a stupidly-rich person to pry one of my Excursions out of my hand.

Yea but to replace that vehicle with only $7500, you ain't gonna get much. If you don't need it or have an excessively full piggy bank, maybe, but for this hard working coonass, unless it's stolen or totaled it ain't going anywhere!

The first offer of 8 grand or more will get someone the keys and title to my rot box.

8 grand is a good down payment on a 6.4 or CR

I would take $13k for mine, it does have 223k miles though so I think thats high. I would not sell if for less than that.

Depends what you want, but if you decide to get another EX 7.3.... good luck finding one in good shape for 14k.

But, that said, EVERYTHING I own is for sale.... if you pay enough!

I used to think I wouldn't sell it at all. As time goes on needs change. I'm only driving 5 miles a day for work, Excursion just turned 202k although tons of work and money went into it. No hassle, no crazy craigslist people, just 14k cash.

202k miles and $14k cash. I would do it, but it does depend on what you are going to replace it with.

He lowballed you. He probably has a buyer already and is going to flip it for a good profit.

Tell him the more he offers the more likely you would be to sell it.

Off Topic (kinda): Read "The Millionaire Next Door" by Thomas Stanley, I use to share parts of it with my students in forestry.

On Topic: If the price was more than what the truck is worth to me, I'd sell it.

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS! I had a similar situation a few years ago where I overpriced and the guy said lets go to the bank, it's just down the street. Got ready to get in the vehicle and another guy came up and the next thing I know they are both trying to scam me. I'm not saying that is the case here, but you want to be careful that someone isn't waiting for you at the bank when you both get there. Sorry to be untrusting, but it happened and I am a little more careful in my decisions. Good luck on your decision, I know it would be tough to decide to let go or keep my truck, but 14 wouldn't do it for me.

14k would not get mine. but for enough $$$ and i could let it go.
my truck is in great shape only 170k miles, and to buy another truck to pull my trailers $14k would not do much.

I only gave 5k for my truck, so I would take the 50% profit, single cabs with no cruise arent known for their resale value.
