stripped fuel filter water separater housing
I was changing my fuel filters today and over tightend the fuel filter drain plug and stripped it. (2006 F-350 dually 4x4 with 6.0 liter diesel) I think I stripped the housing and not the plug. What is the part called that I need to replace and is it a dealer only item? I need to find one fast as I'm now stranded until this is fixed. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. zeus

It's called the HFCM manifold.
For the part number, give me a few minutes and I'll locate my receipt from a couple weeks ago when I had to do the same thing.
Please note, the new ones come without the fuel heater. Just zip-tie that plug and pigtail up to the others and take out the 30 amp fuse in the power distribution box under the hood (can't recall the fuse number).

Thanks! Do I need to replace the entire manifold/part to fix this or just the cover plate that the plug screws into? I'm not sure where the female threads are located. If I JB weld the plug in place, other than not being able to ever remove the plug again, are there any other problems this might cause? Would I be able to seal this with RTV?

Well crap, wife just said she through the receipt away sense she already checked it off our bank statement
That cover plate that the drain plug screws into is the manifold. It has two fuel lines coming out of either side and the plug at the bottom. I paid ~$125 before tax, but that was not from a price friendly dealer. This dealer has everything in stock and is open til midnight 6 days a weeks, so I paid for the convenience.
Permanently "gluing" the plug in place wouldn't pose any short term problems.
Edit:
Just noticed you asking about RTV. I don't know what diesel fuel would do to that, I doubt it would hold up very well. I'd get some 2-part quick drying epoxy that is not affected by oil or gas.

Thanks for the repsonses. I wish I had a place like that open 6 days a week here! I'd gladly pay extra for sure (well not gladly but I'd pay it)! I just missed the local ford dealer's closing hours of 4pm when this all started. Anyhow, I just used some JB weld "water weld" epoxy stick on it. Now I just have to wait the 60 min cure time to see if it leaks. I had this and RTV in my tool box. I decided on the JB weld since the part has to be replaced anyway and I had nothing to lose. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I cant believe how easy this stripped out. Looking closer at my plug, it appears to be steel and the manifold housing aluminum. I'll be much more gentle next time.

Great on-line price on this part! Is a direct replacement for the one I need? Is there a pic of this anywhere so I can check it out? All I see on my end is the name of the part and a price (no description). What makes this one "worry free from stripping"? Thanks!

A very important point about the hfcm drain,,,,,,, the oring does the sealing......NOT TORQUE. If you get the gold drain plug then you can tighten and loosen it by hand. There are no tools needed. There is only 1 or 2 threads in the cover but by looking at the plug, I'd think it is going into solid steel. 1badhabit, where are you located? Its very nice to run down to Midway if needed. I bet you could build an entire truck with their inventory.

run6.0run, I'm actually in Raymore. How about you? And yes, it's nice to be able to run to Midway at 9:00 on a Saturday night for that gotta-have-now part.
zeus, here's a picture of the manifold
What MisterCMK is referring to as being "worry free from stripping" is the second link in his post. It's this new drain plug that you hand tighten

Thanks for the pics! I'll get a new manifold on Monday when I head down to phoenix. The JB water weld epoxy seems to be holding. Its an expensive lesson to learn on not applying too much torque. I'm hoping I can find a direct replacement that includes the heater. I'm not too keen on the idea of just leaving it disconected and pulling the fuse. Thanks again for all the help!

As far as I know, the only source for that manifold is from Ford and they don't offer it with the heater any longer. Probably your only recourse for finding one with the heater is out of a wreck.
If you're OCD (like myself at times) about the harness hanging, Ford does have a new pigtail harness that is without the heater plug.

badhabit, im in between blue springs and independence. Its cool that there is a fellow 6.0 junkie nearby. Shoot me a pm. Hopefully we can help each other out sometime, or just bs. I am pretty sure when I stripped mine out (of course it was in late 2006) I was able to get the cover only for about $50. Maybe they quit selling the cover only tho.
