Wink Donaldson oil filter

I was just visiting downstairs and found this-anyone here running the Donaldson ELF7405?

Oil flows the same on our trucks as it does theirs. I've got a lowly 2wd so I'm too scared to run one. Besides, it's a little late for me to start changing my habits now. I'll just stick to my FL1995 and 5k oil changes.

My LATE '99 F350 Dually is a 2wd as well.....are we thinking that the Donaldson filter will hang past the oil pan? if not and you DON'T do any off roading I wouldn't see any problems with that part-seems so simple to just use a bigger filter that filters better....

I too found this the other day. I really like the idea of a 4 gal oil change, no more jugs with a qt left over. I also like the idea of more oil, more cooling, better filtering, etc. I found a WIX comparable but it appears to have a slightly larger diameter. so it may not fit
Wix 51792XE Qty of 3

this is the smaller version I've been using. I've been very pleased with its performance.

Wix 51734XE Qty of 3

But I may do some looking before I buy again. see if I can find a Donaldson at a good price.

A few of my buddies work at the donaldson's factory in our town. They tell me it is a great quality filter. They also tell me how they also make the filters for all kinds of different companies with just different paint on the outside.

I never asked if they get a discount, I'll have to check into it.

I looked over that thread a while back. Not a bad thought, looks like good clearance with 4x4. If anybody here in the Houston area wants to consider a case but doesn't need 6 filters, I would buy 2. I know they don't spoil, but I won't put that many miles on my truck next couple of years.
I have been considering a bypass system, decisions, decisions.

Barney,

After I fill the oil filter (FL1995) the rest of the 4 gallons goes right in the crankcase. It's never been a problem.

I read that Donaldson manufactures oil filters for Wix. I personally run the Wix filter.

I'm running the Donaldson BHOF and am very happy with it so far... another 4k to go before my first UOA is due, tho.

It does stick out a tad beyond the pan...but my fumoto valve (without nipple) sticks out further. It's protected by the front axle, anyway. (4x4)

I don't think Donaldson make them, but I could be wrong I believe all the Wix filters are made in NC. They do build the NAPA filters. atleast the Napa Gold series. Can't find anything on Donaldson's web site stating where they are made. I used to by alot of Hastings filters til they started showing up with Made in China stickers.

I think so too. I have a gravel driveway and drive through the fields all the time (unless it's wet, but who wants to rut up the pastures anyway?). Since I leave the paved road every day, I don't want to use it, even though I would probably be fine to do so. It doesn't hang down that much further than the pan.
