wondering if you could rebuild a set if the old one were sent to you ?

 

The other day I found a local supplier that had BB Code Delphi injectors, part #6760301, made in Mexico, new, price seemed reasonable. Parts man said he could not be sure they were compatible with my 1983 6.9L OEM diesel engine because his catalog didn't go back that far.
Will these work for me?

 

find out the price and how many sets he can get.
I am in the process of looking for a tip supplier as completes are getting harder to get.

Ive got a set of 8 injectors that came out of my 93 idi turbo that are up for sale, but they may need to be rebuilt and are in no way brand new .

 

The 83 and early 84 'A' code injectors are slightly different, but pretty much all the others are the same. Later injectors should work fine in the 83 engine.

Turbo injectors are basically the same as well. These aren't like the powerstrokes where changing the injectors gets you more power, on these engines the injectors are basically just a nozzle. Fuel is controlled by the injection pump.

 

I checked my truck, I have 7 A injectors made by Bosch in Italy in early 1983 and just one AA injector made by someone whose logo starts with "C" - it has a 1985 data stamp, so is not an OEM part. They still seem to be working, but must be getting 'tired' after all this time.

 

Why are 7.3 IDI turbo objectors so hard to find? Are they about to quit making them or what? Kinda scary thinking in a year or two I may some and won't be able to get them

 

Yah, they're probably a bit tired. Rebuilt ones should work just as well as new, maybe better.

'AA' and 'BB' I think were high altitude injectors. Most of the 6.9s seem to have 'B' injectors.

I would try to keep injectors matched, same code and date of replacement.

 

No idea why they'd stop making turbo injectors, but there's no reason you can't just use any IDI injector on the truck.

 

Its a small market , im looking into sourcing new tips to do proper rebuilds.
