Another "upgrade" Here's my 2005 F350 Lariat 6.0

Hello all,

I've been a member here for a few years. Just today I added another Ford to my list of vehicles.
I've had a 1997 Expedition, 2004 F150 (Bought brand new), 1969 F20, 2000 F250, and now I just bought this 2005 F350 with the 6.0.

This was kind of an impulse buy, but I am glad that I bought it. It's in incredible shape for a 2005, and the price was right. It does have a few miles on it, but I hope it'll last me for a few years.

I guess, like many of you out there, I'm as nervous as heck about this 6.0 and the potential problems. There were two reasons I bit on it"
1) The price was right
2) I bought it from a dealer, that sold it new, and performed all the service. I have copies of all of the service invoices. Every recommended (required) service was complete.

What do you think? Any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
MK

The dealer took it in on trade the beginning of December last year. When he first put it on the lot, he had $21,000 something on it. I had a friend that went to look at it, and it needed tires and ball joints.

No one bit on it, so it sat. Right before I bought it, the dealer did upper and lower ball joints, and put a new set of tires on it.

I paid just under $16000 for it. I figured that even if I have to do the EGR/oil cooler work on it, I still won't be in horrible shape.

It's a 2005 F350, Lariat, Crewcab 4x4. The body and interior are like new.

I think I got a decent deal. Agree?

I think you got a good deal. I just traded in my 2005 CC XLT F250 and the dealer gave me 16000 for it. The 6.0 in those are a beast. I only had one problem with the truck and that was with the high presure oil pump. A line came loose and the truck wouldn't start. It was fixed under warrenty.

I upgraded to the 6.4. I love the truck but the (stock)6.4 is nothing like my tuned 6.0. I did an MBRP installer series exhaust with a cat delete, intake, and an SCT livewire tuner with custum tunes from elite diesel engineering. That 6.0 was bullet proof and could out run and out pull anything around.

Since you have 135 on it, don't hesitate on doing the upgrades. Hope you enjoy your truck.

The first 'upgrade' I would do is ......ARP head studs and head gaskets.

Might as well get that out of the way asap. (just my opinion)

Beautiful truck!

Thanks for the tips so far, we'll see what we end up doing. I most likely will leave it as it is for now.

I couldn't resist. I took it to the fire barn and washed it up today.

love the truck. i think it needs some chrome mirror covers, but so does mine. first thing would b an edge cs/cts, or scangauge2, then blue spring update, and then coolant filter. after that, flush the coolant and put in cat ec1 rather than g05 ford gold. after that, id do egr delete and oil cooler if cooler is plugged. if u want to put some real power to it, then studs are a must, but if u just want a powerful street truck, they arent a must. also agree on the steal.
