I vote for another off road type G2G. And my that I mean wilderness, not necessarily needing 4x4 engaged. Unfortunately the fair side of me realizes we need to cater to all walks of life in the chapter and that includes EVERYONE not just 4x4 trucks.

Fresno?!?!?!?! Why would anyone (besides me) want to have a gtg in Fresno? It would be a long drive for most members. And unless you wanted to go up in the mountains, or Shaver lake (which I still think is drained and only a mud pit) there is nothing here. Underground Gardens being the exception. If that were the case, I would not even have to drive my Bronco, I could walk to the Underground Gardens LOL.

Some of the 50s and 60s guys would like to show off their show quality trucks without chipping the $3000 paint.

Well, they can always take a picture of it in their garage, and then hop in their 4x4 and bring the picture with them! LOL.

Battleship USS Iowa (planned opening-late this summer), WWII merchant ship SS Lane Victory, Martime Museum, Ports of Call in San Pedro.

Personally, I'm more interested in the simple half day G2G, even if just coffee and donuts. These full day expeditions should be few and far between. I just don't like you guys that much.

I don't know, driving for 3 hours just to spend an hour or two drinking coffee and eating donuts doesn't sound to appealing to me, especially considering I would then have to drive another 3 hours to get back. Pretty much makes it an all day affair for me.

There is a simpler cure for your dislike for the other FTE chapter members. Don't show up at all.

Jim

edit: And with gas prices being what they are today, those donuts would have to be the best tasting donuts in the world!

I would drive to Bakersfield for a donut with you, Jim. I just don't want to spend the night with you.

Seriously, the all day or overnight meets are fine. I just don't think we want them often. That fuse will burn out quickly.

Speaking of expeditions, check out this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-9-2009-a.html

Dave put a lot of work and research into this, and the meet never really got off the ground. But there is a lot of info in there about the MNP and I refer to it sometimes. Any one of the locations he cites would be worth visiting.

Well, when you put it THAT way, I agree. However, I know what you are saying, and, it is understandable. Like the Peterson Museum trip, and Eldorado park. Perfect for spending the day, but not suited for an overnight thing. Also, you guys have an advantage in being closer together so you can do that.

In my case, in order to attend any gtg whether it is in SoCal, or NorCal, it is a several hour drive, so I would want to spend the night somewhere, like the Pismo gtg. Didn't really want to drive 3 and a half hours home, after spending all day there, especially with the electrical issues the Bronco is having.

Wow, that is too bad about that mining trip. Looks like a lot of effort was put into it, but nothing ever materialized. I would love to go on something like that, but would definitely need a job beforehand so I can get the Bronco, and myself prepared for such a trip.
