This is an Arizona rust free straight body that needs to be restored. It has a V8 but unsure if it is a 292 or 312 or maybe a 352?

I no nothing about old Ford truck but have a friend that has one spotted that asked me to do a little research for him.

I was looking over some of the threads here and it looks like some of these trucks were factory built as 4X4 and some were converted by an outside company??

This is all of the info I have at this time and no pictures. I have a call into him as he forgot to tell me what trans it has.

See if he can get the numbers or better yet a picture of the data tag on the glove box door.

Just a few things. For 1960 just about any F100 or F250 4x4 you will find is a factory 4x4. Unless someone later added the 4x4 bits as some have done. On the larger trucks (F350, F500, and up) the 4x4s were done by Marmon Herrington and others in 1960. And all 4x4 pickups were long bed trucks - 118" wheelbase.
The factory V8 was a 292 - it was the only one available in the pickups that year. The six was the 223. There were 2 different transmissions available, a 3 speed on the column, and a 4 speed.

 

Any idea how many were built that year?

 

4334 styleside pickup, 964 flareside pickup.

 

No one here has ANY idea of the value of this truck based on the description I oririginlly gave?

BTW, it is a 4 speed.

Estimate on price - based on asking prices I have seen in the last few years. $200 (major rust, not running, pieces missing) to $20,000 (nice condition, seller was way over optimistic).

The real value ends up being what someone is willing to pay for it.

 

This truck is now for sale on Ebay with pictures, so i guess we will see what it is worth.

F = Skymist Blue / ebay seller claims Yellow is the original color. That would be correct if the color code was X = Goldenrod Yellow.

The dash and inside of the doors should be tu-toned since this is a Custom Cab. They ain't.

F253 = F250 4WD, 7,400 lbs. GVWR

26K = Assembled October 26, 1959.

F = Borg Warner T-98 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

04B: 04 = Spicer/Dana 60 Rear Axle / 4.55-1 / non Limited Slip / 5,200 lb. Rear Axle Capacity // B = Dana 44 Front Driving Axle / 4.55-1 / 3,000 lb. Front Axle Capacity.

7,400 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

146 net HP @ 3,800 RPM

9610 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

 

These are most of the production figures for 1960 F100 4WD's, you omitted 424 Cab & Chassis.

The OP did not mention this truck is an F250 4WD until post 10.

1960 F250 4WD production figures: Stake Bed = 98 / Cab & Chassis = 414 / Flareside Pickup = 828 / Styleside Pickup = 1,806.

Clueless ebay seller claims less than 1000 assembled / See post 11 for more gory details.

 

Right, I didnt even think of 250s. Thats why we have you to keep us all in line. I learn stuff and remember stuff everyday I log on to FTE.

I have still yet to decide if I am replacing my windshield. I dont think I have exhausted every option of getting the scratches out. I really want to keep it. I believe its original, It still has Ford stamped on it.
