6.9 Turbo Install Questions

6.9 Turbo Install Questions
Ok, so I recently found a deal on a '93 IDIT motor complete with factory ATS turbo. I've been doing my homework and have a plan worked out in my head to get the turbo into my '85 truck with a 6.9. I'm brand new to the turbo game and as my initial adventure I'm trying to do a budget turbo build. I've got a goal of keeping the cost under $1K including any parts I have to buy, tools, fluids (both for the truck and me), band aids...
The exhaust is my biggest hurdle right now and the last piece of the puzzle keeping me from my boost. I do have the stock dp and exhaust so I could just hook that up but I don't like to do the same work twice. This would be the prime time to upgrade the entire exhaust.
I'd like to see if anyone can help me out with a couple of questions.
Here's my initial investment:
Heavy duty clutch fan for turbo plus a single mass flywheel for my ZF conversion down the road:

- Has anyone installed the Banks 52103 downpipe in their '87 & older truck? Were there any firewall modifications that needed to be done?
- I'm also looking to upgrade the exhaust from the dp back. The only thing I can find that's "off the shelf" is from Hypermax. They have a 3.5" kit from the dp back. Has anyone used this kit or pieced their own kit together?

You have to cut and bend up the lip on the firewall I used a sawzall and long metal blade, made two cuts and bent it up with a and a 6' pry bar. Dont cut through your firewall just cut the lip up to the cab. Banks says you dont have to cut it in their install to bend it but it is easier if you do. ATS says to cut it in their install. It feels like you are going to crack your bell housing prying on it if you dont cut it.
