Looking to Black out my Lights
Hey guys. I own a white 2008 F150 Lariat and I was thinking about blacking out my lights. Any ideas on how to do it? I was thinking about glossing them with a clear coat, then adding some VHT Nightshade. Is this a good idea. Please. I would surely appreciate any help you could give me with this.

I used the nightshade, it came out ok but you are screwed if it gets scratched. there is no way to touch up the nightshade paint if it does get scratched. I have two scratches from pulling out shrubs. and I can spray the lenses again making them darker but covering the scratch, or sand it off and stay over, or I can just leave it scratched and save up for the smoked led lights I should have bought in the first place.

If my money was tight, I wouldn't do any mods to my truck. It would go in the bank until money was no longer so tight, build a little nest egg

I'd check your local laws and make sure it's legal first. Here in NC you'll get pulled and get a fix it ticket. Highway Patrol is very tough on that, and window tint. I know it looks good, but personally I would not do it. It really restricts the amount of light going out, and is kinda dangerous.

But, if it makes you look cool, then don't worry about the poor schmuck who rear ends you...

It is not "kinda dangerous" it can be VERY DANGEROUS. Nothing worse than being behind someone who has done this on a bright sunny day and not be able to see his brake lights. I've seen some done so poorly, you cold not see his tail lights at night...

actually he is talking about blacking out the silver part behind his HEADLIGHTS. said nothing about his brake lights. I agree though, brake lights should NOT be blacked out.

Nah you don't. I think a lot of us who read this thread thought the same way you did.
