78 inside hood lock/latch

I am parting a 78 out for my 64 project. It has a locking inside hood latch.I have not seen this before am wondering if it was a factory option or a dealer add on? I just wish I could use it on my 64.

Not sure which one it is. But make sure you save it. Get the latch and all the pieces. They are hard to find so someone might want it.

Inside release, locking hood latches were a factory option starting in '77.

I got all pieces off and reassembled so I don't loose anything.I would not want to trash something that could do someone some good

If you have the cable and all the parts I'd be interested in having it for my '76, if you are going to get rid of it, let me know what you would want for it.

I found one in a uhaul.... It will be put into my 79 soon.

As I recall the latch instead of pulling out it pushes up

I decided to pull it out today to put it in my truck when I did the dash swap to just add it in the works.... Latch is currently on but that's it so far

Thanks for the pic of the complete mechanism. Like the safety sticker! They also came with a locking handle; shown below. Probably a different cable assembly. Mines a 78.

Not a problem I'm glad this topic popped up so that I remembered to pull it all out.

I've seen a lot of the locking style ones in 80-81 trucks
