Need help. please.
Okay driving around last night my stick popped out. like when a transmission throws it out of gear, mine straight said hell no and threw the stick out of the tranny. It went back in no problems so i drove it to a close friends and parked it, took the stick. Now it wont go back into the tranny or shift at all and is stuck in first, and I need to move it.
Has ANYONE had this problem before? This is the first time ive even heard of this happening.

Is this a 4 speed manual transmission? Did the shifter lever actually seperate itself from the trans? If so, on a NP435 trans, the shift lever is secured to the trans with a spring loaded cap that engages 2 pins on the sides of the shifter tower. It is possible that either one (or both) of the slotted tabs of the sheet metal retainer cap broke off, or one or both pins fell out.It sounds like the trans is in 1rst gear, and you will need to align the internal shift rails in the trans to be in neutral for the shift lever to be reinstalled. Of course, if the retainer cap is broken, or a shift pin is missing, that will bneed to be corrected first.
