i just installed egr delete and new oil cooler on buddys truck. it was smoking before i did this but still is. it smells like oil. my question is how to tell if maybe the seals in turbo are bad. i didnt know it was smoking before untill yesterday when he told me. nice huh. idleing it doesnt smoke but you drive up the road it smokes pretty much the whole time. it an 03 with 154k on it. any ideas would be great.
Drop the downpipe and see if it has oil in it. Also, if the EGR cooler was leaking it could take a bit to get all that burnt out of the exhaust, especially if it still has the CAT.
ok i can do that. and cooler was really bad. it was so bad it hydro locked engine while it was sitting. had to be towed to me. thats why i didnt know it was smoking. and it does have stock exhaust on it. ill pull down pipe off after while and see what it looks like inside.

I don't know how many miles you drove, but it could take a quite a few to get everything cleaned back out. If you pull the downpipe and don't see oil in the turbo or downpipe it's probably just a glut of antifreeze cleaning out the soot in the exhaust and burning off. A bad turbo seal is pretty obvious.
