08 6.4 liter exhaust back pressure welded closed?

I recently bought a Ford F250 with a 6.4L diesel, and discoverd the exhaust back pressure tube has been welded closed inside the larger tube where the line attaches. Has anyone ever seen this? Ford says it's the reason the truck studders/has low power...

If your truck was previously aftermarket tuned and had a DPF delete that might explain that. Are you getting a wrench light, or cel? Yes if the truck is tuned back to stock and the sensor is not connected it would cause issues mentioned.

Thanks! When I bought the truck the line that runs to the sensor was hooked up to both the EGR line port and the EGBPS. I didn't have a CEL. Since Ford found what appears to be the welded EGR EGBP port, they left the EGBP line off and left the sensor attached to the harness, but nothing else. I do have a CEL now. I am considering doing an EGR, DPF delete and programmer, but I'm having trouble believing someone would go to the trouble to remove the EGR tube between the oxidation catalyst and the horizontal cooler, weld it and reinstall it, when you could just plug it. Ford has told me they can't cover the repair under warranty, but I'm considering fighting with them to continue working the issue, until they can show me the inside of the line and it's clear someone welded it. Thoughts?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
