Incorrect! Where peeps come up with this worthless claptrap, I dunno. But I do know that:

No 4WD came with P/S before 1973 ~ N-O-N-E = NONE!

Ford did not offer P/S until 1973 for 4WD's and it was POWER ASSIST P/S on High Boys, and on 1973/75 F100 4WD's, 1975 F150 4WD's.

Maybe this 1972 High Boy is actually a 1973. Post the last SIX digits of the VIN. When decoded the year wll be known.

There is no bushing associated with how the Pitman Arm connects to Power Assist P/S control valves. N-O-N-E = NONE!

1973/79 FORD LIGHT TRUCK PARTS CATALOG.

Illustration Section 36 Page 11 shows an overview of both Garrison & Bendix P/S, how the Pitman Arm connects to both types of control valves.

Illustration Section 36 Page 12 shows an exploded view of the GARRISON control valve.

Illustration Section 36 Page 15 shows an exploded view of the BENDIX control valve.

There is no illustration in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog for 4WD's with P/S, because: Power Steering was not available for 4WD's until 1973!

Contact Green Sales Co. in Cincinnati OH (greensalescompany.com ~ 513-731-3304), ask to have these '73/79 parts catalog illustrations scanned, then sent to you via email or by fax. This is a free service.

I'm 67 years old, was a Ford partsman for 35 years (1962/97). I've been looking up parts for these trucks since they were brand new.

I don't need a parts catalog, cuz I can picture in my mind what these systems look like, how they operate, what the part numbers are for the parts that usually fail.

I beg to differ with you Jon.... Bill "IS STILL" a Parts Manager! All the same headaches but without pay.....

Kind of a slacker though... only 38 Thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Two posts!

How did we get so lucky to have his experience given freely? "fall-der-all" Gotta love it!

Thank You Sir!
