Has something on FTE changed recently?

I've been posting pictures from my webshots hosting site for almost 7 years and have not gotten the red X of death...recenty I have started seeing that...has FTE changed something?

I have posted this method of "cut" and "paste" the following characters (I've intentionally removed the first [ so it shows the codes)...and now it doesn't work reliably...I'm figuring FTE has changed something.

I remember just last week another photobucket user discussing he was having "new" issues as well...anyone else?

"["URL=http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2468621660099735294sXBGma] "[" IMG]http://inlinethumb41.webshots.com/49320/2468621660099735294S600x600Q85.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

Let's try this...

"" ""

And now this

a slightly smaller image size

Tom,

Are you using Photobucket?

As you can see...lots or red X's for me...this is a first...I'm stumped...

the pictures "seem" to initially upload when I post...but when I "refresh"...the red X is there...

THERE...got yours to work X_Hemi_Guy.

Not sure why, but I went to the site that was linked, and it appears that you linked to the photo's album page and not just the photo itself. So I copied the link in the "URL" box on the right of the page, and inserted it into your URL tags.

Not sure why they all showed up after that, as I only did this for the top one.

Now that's just strange...it worked or me the first time and when I refreshed it loaded the red "X" again.

And yes I am using Photobucket.

It is ODD...that same thing is happening to me...I've been doing this a LONG time the SAME way...I have to believe either FTE or webshots have changed...and with all the FTE changes...my money is on FTE...

FRUSTRATING!!!

It links correctly when I first post it (as you have found)...but then something changes.

If you click on the red x...webshots says the page has 'changed"...almost like an "active" link or something...weird...

Any help you can shed would be MUCH appreciated!

I remember last week another photobucket user having very similar issues!

Good question Tom...

But why does the photo load "initailly" and then on refresh disappear...and if I "edit" my post...and save that...the image is BACK again until refresh...

The codes from webshot are the same (I just compared them)...

So it has to be in the FTE interface to webshots somehow...

Who would be the right FTE techie to talk to about this?

Tom (and guys),

I brought this up in the Mods forum the day before the holiday and pinged some IB guys, they made a workaround really quickly but I guess it didn't get applied here.

The problem is with some software on this site - the automatic VIN decoder product is intercepting numerical strings and trying to create hyperlinks so the apparent VIN can be decoded on demand.

Tom - Send a PM to IB Nolan and a CC to Tim (and maybe Jeremy & Robb if you like).

Lookee here:

ctubutis,

THANKS...man I didn't think I was nuts...I've been doing this for over 7 years the SAME way...so I figured IB had "upgraded" something...the site has been so slow the last couple of weeks...I knew there were behind the scenes "improvements" going on...

Hopefully they can fix it...

I can't view your thread since I'm not a mod...

Joe.

From talking with others on here about this...

Picasa and photobucket appear to be working for hosting pictures but Webshots (what I use) hasn't worked and still doesn't work...does anyone have any information as to whether the IT guys are doing anything about this?

Like I've said...I've used my webshots page to host and post pictures on FTE for nearly 7 years and have never had an issue until recently...

I'd like to know if this is going to be fixed or if I'm SOL with webshots?...my webshots page typically gets hundreds of views per week from FTE'rs...I'm not interested in changing hosting sites either just for an FTE IT glitch...just sayin'.

Any info on if this is being worked would be appreciated...I'm kinda flying blind.

Joe
