On my '06 F350 I have 245/70R17's on the stock steel rims. When I go to replace the tires I want to get taller tires that will fit w/ the stock suspension, but not get much wider if I can help it. Everything you find today is too wide which bogs the pickup down, kills the fuel milage, and are not worth a **** in deep snow. I want something that would look right at home on a 70's high boy. I'm looking for a AT/MT tread like a Goodyear Duratrac, Kelly TSR, or Toyo M55. You get the idea. I'm not too particular on brand, but they need to be tough on gravel roads.

I have been looking for a 35" 11" 18" for 2 yrs now. Apparently you and I are the only ones who don't like wide!

 

235-80 x 17 is a little taller and a little narrower, not much though.


275-70 x 18 is 33.2" tall, 8.6" tread and 11" section width. Close, but not 35".....

I don't know why I overlooked this, but BFG makes a 255/80 in there T/A KM2. It converts to a 33x10. That would be about right. It's a little more Mud Terrain than I would like, but I could live with it under the circumstances. I will check out the 18's and the other treads.

 

Looks like the best that BFG does is the 275/70 in the 18. Will a 35 fit OK under the stock suspension?

 

That is what my truck (2006) has stock. The trucks (2005-2007) with the 20" wheel option actually have a 34" tire stock.

For me the best options are the Toyo MT or Good Year MTR in a 285 75 18 That would be around 35.3X11.5-18
My Friends Stock 2006 F-350 clears 35" tires with only minor rubbing at full lock and suspension twisted up. (Might not actually be 35's 325 65 18)

 

the only way to do what you want, change rim size. 16" to get a 35" tire with skinny profile. interco makes a 35" 10.50 16" tire for your application. but its a mudder type SSR radial. this is the only tire i can think of at the moment. might be something else but not sure. really like this tire for cutting snow. looked at maxxis tires and nothing out of the ordinary but maybe check them out also. good luck but i run skinny and wide tires for snow. like them both in different applications. depends on how deep the snow is the question. 12" deep or 4" deep. sometimes you need to float on top. good luck.

 

I don't think 16" rims will fit on a "05+ due to larger brakes being used then. Correct me if wrong.

2006lariat. Add me to your mix. Taller looks better vs all of this wider stuff IMHO. Awaiting an F-150 2013' XLT regular cab 4WD. Do NOT want those factory 17's on it. Looks too "lonely." Would very much like some taller and perhaps slightly wider tires/rims when I finally get it.

 

Haven't posted to this one for a long time, but I was checking out what new sizes of the Cooper ST MAXX were available as it is a relatively new tread from Cooper and they have been releasing more sizes in it. Well, a 255/80R17 is now available in the ST MAXX. For those not familiar it is what I would call a A/T-M/T cross, which is what I like best for my uses. Good off road traction and sipes that make them pretty good in the snow and ice. These will be the next set for the '06 reg cab F350.
