hey new guy here

I am already going to bother the group for help.

I think I have most of the parts I need to make a horn work on my truck but don't know what else I'm missing. I would love any help with this. I think i need two brushes, does dennis carpenter sell both that I need? What does the shiny horn washer do in the last picture? Does it look like the parts are in the proper place?

UH OH! How do I download pics? there isn't an option.

thanks in advance
jeff

Welcome to FTE

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info. 1967/70's have a horn ring or button, horn insulator and brush.

1971/72's have a vinyl horn pad that contains the horn switch, no horn brush/insulator.

Your profile says: 1967 F250. On the outside of the steering wheel, below the horn ring or button, hand pressed into the wheel is the horn brush and insulator (C2OZ-13A821-A).

The brush has a thin copper wire that snaps in two.

And, peeps are unaware, remove the wheel, then tilt it, the horn brush falls out. Then when they re-assembled, the horn no longer blows and they wonder why.

Carpenter in Concord NC (800-476-9653) has C2OZ-13A821-A .. Horn Brush & Insulator Kit / Obsolete from Ford, but...there are several sources that have it NOS, here in CA.

What city do you live in? I'll list the closest sources.

Applications: 1961/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD (use w/3 spoke steering wheel) / 1967/70 F100/250 / 1969/70 F350 // 1962/64 Fairlane / 1963/64 Galaxie / 1964/66 Thunderbird / 1965 Mustang w/a generator.

I wish I could download pics, they would answer all of your questions, is it possible to email you pics? The steering wheel has insulator but no brush. The thing that looks odd to me is the steering brush doesn't have any metal contact. And it's not in line with the other brush in the signal switch.

sylhall@aol.com / Post 5: "Tricky" has chimed in with how to post pics. So, either post them here, or pass them along.

One end of the brush has a cone shaped end...thin copper wire fits into it, has a ballpoint pen sized spring over the wire, then a flat contact plate at the end of the wire.

The thin copper wire snaps, so what remains of the brush can work its way past the horn ring/button, goes bye bye.

Where do you live in CA?

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Call Bo @ Mustang Service Center in NoHo (818-765-9266), he prolly has the parts in stock. Take Laurel, Benedict or Coldwater Canyon or Beverly Glen to 11610 Vanowen St.

The spring that fits between the horn button and the wheel is different with the horn ring.

thank you

First off I want to thank you guys for helping me!

I think my horn can be working soon, just one more question. There are two brushes to make the horn work, are they both the same size and shape?
