2009 Transmission Reflash?

I have a 2009, 4x4, 5.4L with 78k miles. The transmission works overall but it seems to shift late and creates a mushy feeling. If you put your foot down, it will downshift and take off so it's not a power issue. As I've read on this forum, mine also searches for the right gear often and overall seems to shift too much. Seems like a computer reflash would fix it as I think it's just the shift timing. Has anyone had the computer reflashed? Is this possible or available from the dealer? Thanks in advance for you response.

I had my transmission reflashed a while back due to the same thing you are experiencing. The truck had to re-learn my driving behaviors all over again. Generally, I am very light on the gas pedal. I found that if I drive with a little more throttle, mine shifts a lot better and my fuel mileage improves a little bit.

thanks for the reply. So did the reflash actually help the shifting or do you still have to have to gas it to make it shift better? I tried using the tow/haul mode this weekend and really like the way it shifted much better. I will likely resort to this unless I can determine if a reflash will make much of a difference in the way it shifts in normal mode (not tow/haul).

I actually have gotten mine re-flashed twice. The first time, it shifted worse, but the second update really improved every day shifting. It still seems to hunt, or at least the torque converter locks and unlocks noticeably when driving with a light foot. I have also noticed that it shifts better and gets a little better mileage when I drive with a heavier foot (moderately heavier). It has always shifted great in tow haul with a trailer behind it. There should be a TSB at the dealer for the reflash. I'd talk to them and see if it is covered, even if your warranty has expired. I also just recently had my trans serviced, and it made a slight improvement in the torque converter lockup/unlocking when driving Miss Daisy.

My 2010 takes forever to down shift, sometimes as long as about 4 seconds, depending how many gears I need to down shift to. I know I need to get it re flashed, just haven't done it.
