How much boost are you getting? Before doing the Idm mod I would see 25psi with the occasional 27-28 with a load uphill etc, now I'm seeing 27 regularly. With the weight and dually I see how your keeping the 31s planted now. Triple check the gasket between the turbo and up pipe collector, a piece of mine was missing when I pulled the turbo recently, and I couldn't see any soot around it.

got my resistor several months ago. haven't had the guts to do that micro surgery. but today i replaced two capacitors on my wife's motherboard dell desktop. now I'm thinking about my IDM. I'd rather lose the dell than the PSD. haha. Solder braid didn't work on the caps just so ya know.

The chip resistor you are going to remove is a surface mount component/resistor, soldered to surface mount pads. The resistor you are replacing it with is a thru-hole designed for soldering in holes in the board. The solder sucker is most often used for removing solder from thru-hole leads from the back side of the board to remove solder and components.

The link above is a picture of the solder wick use #2 IIRC, it's a braided copper with rosin added. It really does work well if used correctly. To use have a hot soldering iron suitable for electronics soldering, if it has two heat settings the hotter setting could be use for this. Place the wick on the solder and component/resistor and touch or press down firmly with the soldering iron, you should see the heated solder being drawn up the wick. If you did good on both ends of the chip it should easily be removed with tweezers. If it is not loose don't force it you could lift the pad, but I don't think that is very likely with the type of board in the IDM, they are pretty tough. If having trouble getting it loose add more solder and try to remove it again, always cut off the used wick that has solder on it and use fresh.

Sounds like something isn't right, even without a chip you should be seeing 17-18 lbs of boost. Are you sure your turbine and compressor wheels are in perfect condition?

I say you have problems.

With my TS chip, intake, and full exhaust I can get up to 28 PSI on a stock turbo. If I have my chip set on the stock setting, I can get to about 18 PSI.

Check your up-pipes, intake boots, intake to turbo gasket, and turbo wheel. If there is any play at all in the turbo wheel, you had better either rebuild it or replace it.

Hopefully I can get to finish this thing this weekend. Working long days some tower work with helicopters. I got a few different things I need to look at on the rig to see why this thing is lacking power!! Might end up pulling the turbo again. I had it out when I did the electric fuel mod, and the rig acted the same before and after. So who knows!!!
