Well I just opened it up while ago. See some damage to the teeth a little.

Only the 2nd pic shows damage, the other gears are supposed to have those "lines"

At least it isn't a rusty bomb inside!

Looks like someone liked to shift into 1st and reverse before the truck was stopped.

And I agree with Bullitt390. Looks like just the one bad gear. I'd recommend the full rebuild kit with bearings and synchro's and also get the low/reverse slider gear.

Bullit390, as far as lifting the trans you have to realize Manfred is like 6'4'' and 200lbs.

Manfred, get the parts and bring it by the shop if ya want a little help rebuilding/installing. I think we can fit your truck in the shop no problem.... it'd be a LOT easier installing it in there, ya know.

so the real questions...
Did you get:
1. Shifter and boot
2. Clutch/Pressure plate et el
3. Pedal assembly and Zbar

I couldn't load the pictures, our signal stinks out here. I think I get back on land around Feb 23rd or something.

later

I think a (2wd) C6 is just easier to hold onto and pick up. The T19 I kept lugging around was a huge pain in the back because it is so awkward.

The M5OD I recently snagged for my Ranger is a breeze compared to those two!

I can pick it up by myself with no problem. Lighter than my c6 LOL

Wonder if I will need to make my driveshaft longer or shorter for my front and back?
you will need to shorten your front driveshaft and lengthen the rear or find a a set out of a manual trans 4wd truck.

So the gear will be fine with how it is?

Hey Drew,

Yeah we can do that. I haven't got everything yet. Got a guy on another forum who says he has some of it..

Take it easy out there.

If you are going to rebuild the transmission replace the low/reverse slider gear ( the one with the teeth all chewed up on the edge ) .

I've got a 78 F150 with a 4spd. I'm willing to sell the pedal assembly and all the clutch linkage. The only thing is it's got a 300 inline 6 so I don't know if the Z-bar will work for your swap or not. I'm not sure if they had different width Z-bars for the different engines. But if you want any of my parts shoot me a PM and we can work out a deal.

Well I got a 351/400 bellhousing, z bar, flywheel, clutch assembly, etc for the swap. Think I need the clutch and pressure plate.

What rebuild kit should I get? Does the 1st gear drive look fine to yall?

Looks fine to me... Definately get some new plastic pads for the forks though.

I am going thru replacing the FM145 in my Ranger with a newer M5OD. The tranny was howling like a banshee, but I pulled the cover yesterday and it looks pristine that POS.

If you really want a rebuild just get a bearing and gasket kit and if your nervous about it find a replacement gear. Maybe add synchro rings, but the rest looks good.

Does the plastic pad for the forks come in a kit?
