gauge plug smaller
In replacing my wiring harness in my 75 f100, I aquired a wiring harness from a 1976. It routes from behind the dash to the engine compartment. Everything hooked right up except one item. And the plug that hooks to the back of the instrument gauges. The plug I have is shorter in width than the 75 ford. Question: Has anyone ever had this trouble and how can I resolve it. Thank you

You'll have to get the right cluster. They don't interchange.

when i built mine i had my 76 camper special and a 78 f350 dually. my clusters were different but i think they shared the same plug. in some clusters some of the lights do different things. my 74 high beam indicator is what my 76 seatbelt light is for example. i had to make the 78 section of harness meet my 76 cluster because the 78 went to 85 mph and was the ugly silver one where my 76 goes to 100mph and black. i had to use a small "dentist" pick to release the individual wires in the plugs and put them where they needed to be. it took a lot of schematics making my eyes cross but i got it done, i did the same thing for the steering columns. you should be able to take the pins out of the old plug and basically replace the plug itself with the other wires
