Question Yblock Motor Mount question - TH700R4 related

I'nstalling Mustang II IFS and need looking at adding side motor mounts to my frame as I am replacing the stock 4spd with a GM TH700R4, mounted w an WILCAP adapter plate. I have removed the rear stock crossmember (bellhousing mount point) from the truck frame as this interferred with the new TH700R4.

Question: What side motor mounts will fit the engine block so I can fab the new mount?

I dont know what/if t'birds/fairlanes use the side block motor mounts on the Yblock.

Thanks!
Stan

Mounts for any car other than a T-bird will work. I believe even an FE is the same.

Yep. Mounts for any car that came equipped with a Y, other than a T Bird, will work. Those on ebay should do it.

Are the motor mounts on all Y blocks in the same position? or are some on the side of the motor and some mount on the front of the motor?

I am doing much the same thing. The front and bellhousing mounts are used in trucks.

My current transmission (Ford E4OD) doesn't have bell mounts so I have to do side mounts.

I am fabricating mounts and will be using the same mounts used in a Dodge Cummins application. (they're just simple square plates with a rubber block between them.

I'm going to "box" the frame in that area and connect it all there using the Cummins mounts. Then I'll build a trans cross-member in the back.

I have to allow room for the "Rams-Horn" down pipes.

Here's a view showing the front mount

Here is one showing the original type mounts (which I am not using) They're brand new. I wish I hadn't bought them now!!

The front mount looks great, is that stock or did you make that? Do you have pictures of the trans mounts you are fabricating?

The front mount is stock. (and it's coming off) I only have it on there now to locate where I'll put the side mounts together

The trans mount is going to be some 2" x 1.5" square stock that I'll angle cut and weld together.

No pictures yet (stay tuned)

Yeah. It's getting obvious isn't it?

Only yesterday, I got some pieces of steel together to FINALLY fab those side mounts and I used the neighbors power hack-saw to angle cut the square tubing I'll use for the trans mount.

I am also going to do a little cutting with my new Harbor Freight plasma cutter!

I haven't done very much for about 4 months! ....

Without insulation out in my building, it's usually too cold to do much out there even with my 140,000 BTU furnace going full blast!!

Like the waterpump pulley, never seen that b4.

I just added a parts truck to my Garage. The sheetmetal is all moving over to a"pete" except thehood. I rough trimmed inner fenders for IFS clearance. Now I can measure for a new pair of shiney shoes... 20X8.5's

I'm probably not going to use those engine mounts either. Ive got a fab idea off Trucks tv show Project ClasSix.

That is a standard pulley from a place like the Surplus Center

Surplus Center - 6.75 O.D. H-BUSHING SINGLE GROOVE PULLEY

The bushing is a keyed bushing but I don't think a key is necessary......Not a lot of torque on a water pump.

Surplus Center - 0.625 KEYED H-BUSHING

I just pressed the flange off the water pump shaft and used the bushing.

I wanted to move the location of the belt drive on the water pump to the outer crank pulley so it wouldn't interfere with the high-mount fan drive I was going to use

Now, I think am going to use a set of electric fans so I might go back to the OEM pulley.
