Will stock auto trans kick down rod work on a Edelbrock Perfomer intake?
I was wanting to know if anyone has had an issue with not being able to use the factory C-6 transmission kick down rod with the Edelbrock Performer intake manifold?
I am assuming it will not work with some of the other styles of aftermarket intakes that have a higher than stock, carburetor mounting surface. Like the Weiand Stealth for instance.
Thanks,

Superdave,
I have a Performer 460 intake on one of my 460s, and haven't had any issues with the kickdown lever while using a Holley 600 vac-sec, Carter AFB 9000 series 600 CFM, and now an Edelbrock square bore 1407. You may need to buy the mounting stud if your carb doesn't have one, but it's all standard sized stuff. Just adjust the kick-down stud length to get the correct kickdown point. That'll make up for the slightly higher mounting position.

BigBlockGuru, the Edelbrock 1407 is identical to the Edelbrock 1411 except for the kickdown adapter (a small stud on the throttle connector piece), the electric choke, and being jetted 2% richer on the main circuit. I simply grabbed a throttle stud off one of my many carbs and installed it for use on the Edelbrock (to attach the kickdown lever). I use the stock kickdown lever. Like Superdave, I've run a Holley 4160, Edelbrocks, and Carters all on this motor. Sometimes one has to do a bit of mix-n-match with parts (for instance the Holley and 1407/11 are square bore, while the Carters and Motorcrafts are spread bore), but all in all it's pretty straight forward.

Yes, you can use the stock kickdown lever (the long bent tube running down to the side of the tranny). Just be prepared to slightly bend the angles in the level to match the new position of the carb. And be prepared to find/buy/modify something to serve as the mounting stud for the lever (if there isn't already one on the carb you buy). Also, if you install a squarebore Edelbrock 750, you may need a new carb-to-intake-manifold adapter, depending on which manifold you install it on. Like I said, there may be some mix-n-match required...

Just installed my kickdown rod...literally
I just installed the kickdown rod in my 78' Supercab, 460/C6.
I have an Edlbrock 1411 750 Performer carb and a 460 Edelbrock Performer intake. I had to bend the rod a little bit to match up with the #1483 adapter kit (Edelbrock also).
Maybe my kickdown rod was missing a grommet/etc at the end that fits the carb/throttle because the hole on the rod was about a 3/8" diameter. I just put a piece of 1/4" (1/8" wide) vacuum hose over the stud on the #1483 adapter. It fits nice, no play and seems to work really good.
Now I just have to adjust that rod to kickdown exactly where I want it to. It seems really close already.
