New here saying hello.
been a Sport Trac owner for 10 years now, been a great truck but now starting to get some issues. Got some great info here a couple years ago about replacing the electronic window switch that went bad early on drivers side, was easy to replace and part cost me $60 if I remember correctly....saved me about $200.
I just had a PCV Hose replaced when codes P0171 bk 1, P0174 bk 2, caused CEL to stay on. truck began lurching while at stops etc. and had a burning smell. hose was found to have a split. while it took care of the lurging and CEL, the burning smell is still there, and just the other day I could see white smoke coming up from around the left back of the engine area when I lifted the hood.
truck is running rough and noisy, thought some one might have some advice.
Thanks in advance.
Since you also have some roughness and noise, maybe you have broken exhaust manifold studs or a cracked exhaust manifold that is allowing exhaust to escape before the oxygen sensors. The sensors could be reading this as a lean condition. Have you checked recently for codes? If the O2 sensors think it's running lean, they may be telling the PCM to dump more fuel in causing gray smoke to come through the crack/gasket and probably also causing a drop in fuel economy. Have you witnessed an exhaust tick before to know if the noise you're hearing is an exhaust leak or not?
You could also have a bad intake manifold gasket that could explain the roughness, but not so much the smoke.
