Aftermarket versus 6.0 trans cooler

In the market for upgrading my trans cooler on v10 2000 X. I know the 6.0 cooler is good and easy install but there are many aftermarket coolers out ther for 1/3 the cost. Some aftermarket have thermostatically controlled fans as well. Derale has a good selection.
Just wondering opinions and experiences on aftermarket coolers. I want a good one and will go with a 6.0 cooler in necessary but don't want to pay for a "factory" part when aftermarket is just as good or better.
Thanks,
Jon

Let me know if you pull the trigger on the aftermarket cooler. I have a 2000 V10 and will tow a decent amount, thinking a trans cooler upgrade is a good idea here in CA.

Just ordered a Tru Cool Max. Searched other forums pertaining to superduty and deisels. Everyone seems to have great results with just adding the Tru cool. I'll let you know.

No fan. Many are mounting in front of the AC condensor in the opening on the lower bumper and simply daisy chaining it after the factory cooler.

Resurecting an old thread without a conclusion. How did the job turn out?

I was thinking about adding a small cooler to the existing stock system just in case. My temps are good around here, but planning to go west next summer.

I would be patient and look for a deal on a 6.0 trans cooler. I lucked out on mine and got it as part of an insurance job after an accident. The other day I picked one up as a gift for one of the boys and got it for $30.

Keep your eyes peeled and check a few junkyards, you may get lucky...

The 6.0 trans cooler is also bolt-in/drop-in mod, all you have to do is get a barbed fitting that goes from 3/8 to 1/2, some hose, and you're good to go.
