Bumpers for 1961 ford truck styleside
Have a question about rear bumper on 1961 ford truck styleside (Unibody), the origanal bumper has the dip for the license plate which I am not will crazy about. I have seen pictures on the web were guys have used looked like a rear 1964 bumper that had the indention for the license plate which I like better. Could anyone tell me how much trouble it would be to accoplish this and if I can use the bumper brackets that is on the truck will work or any other suggestions Thanks.

Hey there you are probably talking about what I think is called the sport bumper from 64 up. Here is a pic of it. As to how you get it mounted to your truck Im not sure. I did not look up under that uni to see how he accomplished that.
It does look good back there. Just like that is the one it came with.

The bumper is the same 1964/79, but the brackets are not the same after 1972.

Bumper
Bill the truck I have is a (1961 unibody or styleside) with the original rear brackets how much trouble would it be to install a bumper like what is in the picture instead of the one that came with the 61 that drops down for the license plate. The bumper in the picture has bolts in the top where the 61 has bolts in the bumper face but I like the one in the picture for my 61 if it is not going to be hard to confert any help would be appreciated thanks.

I'm aware you have a Uni, also noticed your ad in the Parts Wanted section for one a these later bumpers.
But, I have no idea what's involved. You'll have to find someone w/a Uni that has made this swap. There is no parts catalog ref, since this bumper was introduced in 1964 and Uni's were cancelled in 1963.

You need to purchase the 64 to 72 bumper brackets and bumper. Each is reproduced by the aftermarket. The truck pictured has a reproduction bumper.
To mount it you will need to cut two slots in the rear roll pan to allow the brackets to mount to the outboard face of rear frame section. The 61 to 63 uni 66 frame is the same as the model 81 and is the same width. The brackets may bolt to existing holes in the frame, Maybe Maybe not?. Final Adjust accordingly to your lack of taste this bumper provides to the classic lines of the uni.
You will also need to rewire lighting for the license plate.
A fairly easy swap if you do not mind cutting up the rear factory roll pan.
