Electric water pump? Brand?

I know there are no readily available kit to convert the Y-block but I thaught I would buy a replacement part electrical motor with pumpwheel and design and manufacture the adapterplate between the timing cover and pump myself.

However what brand do you all recommend?

Pro comp?
Meziere?

Other suggestions?

I prefere quality

Thanks

Well

then I can get better cooling with an electric fan/ electric water pump combo when idleing during cruises and save power when I have the speed to let the wind cool the radiator. Then I need a smaller amount of coolant.
The crank shaft driven mechnical pump have a low flow at low rpm (cruising) and takes to much power at high rpm (highway speed).

That´s the thaughts atleast.

I have no trouble finding a electrical pump but I wanted some feedback on quality brands or is it same same (china everything)

You'd have to drive a couple hundred thousand miles (or Kms) to make up for the cost of the electric components. Electricity isn't free, either, from crankshaft to alternator output is about a 25% conversion efficiency (so 4x the power to create each kW).

The trend on OEMs for about 30 years has been to make the cooling system (WP) drive as bulletproof as possible, by using the cam belt to drive it, instead of the accessory belts. An electric pump seems to be a step in the wrong direction.

How will you control the pump, purely on temperature? I believe OEMs with electric pumps (there aren't many) use a more sophisticated algorithm to assure that there aren't portions of the block/heads that get starved for cool water.

I had Davies Craig electric waterpump kit on my Caterham, it was a 2.0turbo car, running at 400 bhp, and a limited frontal area. The kit never caused an issues, and cooling was rock solid.
