Best 4" lift kit for the money

I'm looking into what brand lift kit I should get, Ive settled for on a 4" lift and have been looking at rough country, I hear they are really well built and reliable, but rides rough, hence the name. heres the kit Im looking at specifically: Ford Suspension Lift Kits

What brands/kits do y'all recomend for about $500+/-$150, like I said I want just a 4" kit. best kit for money, not cheapest kit ever but comparing quality and reliability to cost.

What other parts do y'all recomend too like steering stabilizers/etc. brake lines I can get cheaper than what rough country wants for them.

note: I have the quad shock front suspension
My truck is an 87 f150, 4x4, 300-six, 4 speed, standard cab, long bed

I have a rough country 2.5" kit on my 92 F150 with additional 2" spacers in the front. I don't think it rides any rougher than the truck did stock. I have had it on for 5 years and ~30,000 miles. No problems with it ever. I have run both 33s and 35s and never used a steering stabilizer, so it's not a must. You won't need extended brake lines for a 4" kit. I don't have them.

I have a 4" rough country lift on my 95 f150. I don't think it rides any rougher than stock either. Also was easy to install, and the parts seemed well built. I am very pleased with Rough Country. I would strongly advise throwing away the shocks that come in the kit though, mine were complete crap. I replaced them with Rancho shocks (made by monroe). Also, I had to have custom u-bolts made for the rear. The ones in the kit were the same length as the ones in my truck. When I called customer support they said something about it was because I had factory over-load springs, and I would have to remove the overloads (this was not going to happen...). So plan on spending about ~$300 more for shocks and u-bolts. I only replaced the front shocks, so that saved me a little money.

i did one on my 80 bronco and it was fine. however, the 96 has the extended arm rancho kit and i love it. i got the toughcountry easyrider 4 inch reached leafs in the back. the extended radius arms make the truck a ton more stable and no tire rub .

however, after having the truck since 1999 , and being at almost 200 k,there is now components tht are mismatched to make it drive/handle better. i have the rough country front drop brackets for easier alignment, the tough country rear leafs and front sway bar drop brackets. and skyjacker supercab front coils for 4 inch . as the rancho's arent availalbe other than the kit , i have ran skyjacker shocks, rancho shocks and pro comp shocks, i am still undecided on who has the better shock, my truck is also a quad shock with front rear sway bars .

I've only lifted a 250, but the rear is best and cheapest done with a shackle flip. Its an easy 4, 4.5 inch lift for $16 and a few hours, and it won't make it any rougher or stack any more blocks.

I have a 94 350, will the shackle flip work on my truck? Where do I get the shackles? Thanks

IMO, if your going to lift a TTB don't bother using stock radius arms. Spend a little extra and get the extended arms, you won't be disappointed.

This is the 4" lift I got and I am very happy with it. 4" Ultra Deluxe Lift w/Superunner Extended Radius Arms 9

It rides pretty smooth actually and does pretty well off road. It's a little "tippy" in corners, but that is b/c I don't have a sway bar. With a sway bar that wouldn't be a problem. It isn't really a problem for me anyways, just don't try to corner like a sports car.

All for the low-low price of $1100 BEFORE shipping

As a side note.. Extended brake lines are not needed for a 4 inch lift, at least on my truck they weren't. I still have plenty of slack left in my lines, and I have had it flexed to it's max.

You think that's too much?? It's not too bad considering it's full leaf springs and extended arms. None of that lift blocks and radius arm lowering bracket junk... LOL

I had to put extended lines on mine.... The stockers weren't long enough when flexing it..

When I bought my '91 it had a Rough Country 4" lift on it. Extended radius arms would be nice, get some rub with 33x12.50 tires. Had an issue with rear brake line, Previous owner tied it over to get it away from the exhaust tube. I took the line loose from the frame and built my own drop bracket for it from some 18 gauge sheet steel. To get the odd shape hole I sized a drill bit in the factory hole and then filed out the corners till the brake line fit nice. I dropped the line 3" and moved it inboard slightly for clearance. I could take some pics of it if anyone wants to/ needs to try this, It was free for me and took about an hour to do. (Took longer to get the brake line loose without destroying it)
