actually they are legal as long as they arent the acrylic drag racing and pulling trusck covers that completely black them out, but thats in america. hlogen lights and amber halogen lights shine directly through those as long as theyre smoked and not blackout, buut smoked is still pretty dark

I don't know about Canada, but.
Federal laws say no here in the USA, they cover up the red reflector, same reason the crystal clear front lights aren't legal. According to the Federal motor vehicle code there must be an amber reflector to the side within the front 12" of the vehicle and a red reflector to the side within the rearmost 12" of the vehicle, BUT most LEOs don't know that.
ON EDIT:
Why do you want to make your lights darker anyway, I already have enough idiots that can't see the truck run into it at stoplights.

well i live in ohio lol no vehicle laws get enforced, like the sound ordinance, or emissions, or headlights and taillights, or bumper height or almost anything that affects the street legality of the vehicle. Awhile back my grandpa took a 6 in pipe from a swingset and straighpiped his 454 chevy lol he used to beat on his trucks so that thing sounded like it was right outside youur window two miles away. No one in our town GAS, btw wat is an LEO?

I live in sask, and got pulled over when i was in my youth for having blacked out headlight covers on my mustang.
The fisherman is right, the cops told me they are for "off road use" only.
Taillight covers would be the same, and I cant imagine the laws differ a whole lot from manitoba to sask.
