Cold Start and Fuel Leak

2006 F350 With 6.0 Diesel

Was having a cold start issue so after checking out the FCIM and finding it bad, I replaced it. Its better but still having issues with cold restarts in the morning.

The other thing I've noticed is a fuel leak draining off the backside of the motor. I cant seem to locate the leak on the top of the block, seeing as I'm guessing its coming from the top.

Any ideas?

FPR housing is with to the upper fuel filter housing
Take out the 4 torx screws but hold on to the cover theres a spring in the lower half of it

And number 5 lower picture

Tried to get one more pic but it wont work right now

Theres also a plug in the fuel rails at the back of each Head

But this housing is more common spot to leak

And, check your batteries. Make sure they "BOTH" good. If one is bad, replace both.

Both Batteries were replaced in November, Starter last week (fried it trying to start in the morning).

I'll pull the intake tube and see if she's leaking at the FPR.

Sounds like a pretty good leak especialy if it wont start

Hope you get it fixed soon Low Fuel Pressure will Kill your injectors and if its leaking its probably way low on pressure

If you need a new keyhole gasket at the FPR you might as well put the Blue FP spring upgrade in and Kill two birds with one Stone the blue spring will keep FP alittle higher and save your injectors in the long run

What Do you expect for a Big POS Just Kidden LOL

This 6.0 Needs to have gauges to watch some things with if you just drive Blind and something goes out 9 out of 10 other stuff will Fail and you have a cascade of Failures

But the Folks that study up and watch there Gauges seem to be Problem Free maybe a Part Here and there

ODDS are Your Batterys took out your FICM those 2 Dam neer go hand in hand see what I mean But if you could have seen the Batterys/Alternator starting to fail you may very well would have saved your FICM.

My truck runs Like a Scalded Dog but I keep Right on top of things going out. B4 1 thing Leads to another

I also do my research before I buy a replacment part and find out what everyone has had Good Luck with like some parts OEM is the Best other parts After Market parts have been Improved over OEM. I also research the problem out sometimes theres more to a PERMINATE FIX than just changing the Broken Part out other areas need Attention for a PERMINATE FIX thats just my .002 worth

While it was under warranty there were no aftermarket parts intalled. Ford replaced the following under warranty:

77k- EGR Valve
85k - 6 Injectors and Rear Main Seal
89k - Glow Plugs
99k - Short Block

The dealer replaced the block because they couldnt explain why #2 & #6 had no compression. Bet they never checked the heads!

With a Short Block they put your Original Heads Back or thats Normaly what you get with a Short Block

A long block would come with new heads,Valve Train, camshaft, oil pump ect....
