Question no 4 pin on my truck??

Hey guys, just bought a 20 foot catamaran, whose trailer has a 4pin light connector. I noticed that I do not have that plug on the back of my truck, only the 7 pin. Is there an adapter made? Or is it easy enough to wire a permanent one? Thanks.

Your truck had a 4-pin. It's just a matter of finding where it went...and why?

Walmart sells a Generic kit for a few bucks. You can tie into the 7 pin wires to connect

Any auto parts store will have a 7 to 4 adapter. I used an adapter all the time on my f150.

You can get a 7 to 4 pin adapter for around 10-15 bucks at Walmart or any auto parts store.

Dont waste your time with 4 pin trailer plugs. I would suggest you wire the trailer with a 7 pin RV plug. It gives you more options such as a battery wire and trailer breaks. Our 2008 had a faulty 7/4 pin connector from the factory. I cut it out and put a new 7 pin only rv female connector from NAPA. Although there isnt anything wrong with adapters until you dont have the right one.

Not a bad idea if you know the trailer isn't ever going to be towed by another vehicle, but if you need to tow it with a different vehicle that only has a 4 pin connector, then you are back to using an adapter again.

If there's no plan to add brakes to the trailer, I would probably just go with the 7 to 4 pin adapter.

The ones with the LED indicators on them are nice because if there is a problem with the lights, you can see right away if the problem is on the truck or the trailer.
