should iput back the stock 99.5 compressor wheel?

i started out 10 years ago putting stuff on my truck for better towing. so i went with a system. ( yeah i know, don't go there) any way part of it was a turbo up grade which was a ported housing/what turns out to be a ww/ and big head actuator. question is, would the stock wheel reduce EGT by flowing more air? or, no.

Ported housing and ww are two different things, Banks does not sell ported housing, they sell ww which is a 99 ww.

Did you put the power elbow on the turbine and banks exhaust also, high egts, over fueling is the most likely the cause, if there is no up pipe leaks and boost leaks, dirty air filter etc, exactly what is your highest egt reading?

yea, banks ex. from outlet back. don't have a problem with high temps, just wondering if the ww was a step back as far as temps go.

I went with a ported housing over the WW. When talking to various tuners and others it seemed to be the better choice. The WW is less effecient than the stock 99.5-03 wheel. The ported housing allows more airflow than the stock housing and will essentially help lower EGT's. I also noticed an improved power range when I went to the ported housing. More money, but worth it for me.

The way I understand it is that there are two sides that make up your turbo. The compressor side with the turbine that is fed by the intake, and the exhaust side. You can change the housings of either side to manipulate the functional characteristics of your turbo, but in this case we have been referring to the compressor/turbine housing on the intake side. This is the side where surge occurs, which is what your kit was designed to eliminate. Now whether your kit came with both a wicked wheel and a compressor housing, I don't know. Most people don't run both because the whine tends to be unbearable and with the ported compressor housing you shouldn't need a wicked wheel.

Oh, and you're not wasting anyone's time. Talking about this stuff, learning, and educating each other is why we're here.
