Thoughts on this 300?

I am in need of a "new" engine for my 85 E350 4wd. A piston broke and scored one of the cylinders badly so its time for my first engine swap.
This popped up on cl ford inline 6 300.
Would this be a relatively simple swap? Any out of the ordinary questions I should ask when I go take a look at it?
Thanks!

I wouldn't take the time and trouble to swap in an engine that I wasn't 100% sure was going to last.

Since an industrial engine is intended to run at a consistent RPM it may not have a camshaft that works in the RPM range an engine see when driving.

It might be a good core for a rebuild. If the bottom end and cylinders are okay it may work with a just valve job and (possibly) new cam/lifters.

I'm with Baron on this one. Don't do the swap without tearing the engine down. And at least check it over good, if you don't do a full rebuild on it.

And it's a perfect time to do some upgrades to make a little extra power too. That's what I'm doing for my 89 E350.

That cl engine looks like a decent deal. But I'd still open it up and check it over before you do the swap.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up passing it by and getting an engine from a junkyard for the same price.
Of course bringing its own new problems with it, ah well.

You passed on a clean looking industrial 300 that was run on natural gas for a junkyard engine for the same price?????? Why?? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

A junkyard engine should be tore down and checked over too ( it should be done with any used engine that you can't hear run and thoroughly check over first ) . So what's the benefit of the jy engine?
