Ford f350 1957 LHD to RHD possible or not
Hi with living in the UK and we drive on the right hand side.Did ford make a RHD ford 1957 f350.I would like to swap from left hand drive to right as the truck iam buying is quite large so overtaking can be a problem as it can be hard to see.So is there a right had drive box and what else would i need.It has a floor change gears,Would i need a different gear box.It has a straight six engine. Thanks

You might want to try to contact someone familiar with Ford trucks sold in Australia. I have seen brochures for sale that showed Ford mediums that had the looks of the 57 to 60s. Technically, switching over the steering box should not cause an interference with the Six. Steering linkage parts (primarily the arm from the spindle to the drag link) could be fabricated if need be. And moving the battery to mount the clutch and brake master cylinders should not be a big deal either. The biggest problem that I see is the dash. If you could not get a complete unit, it would take a fair bit of cutting, welding, and fabricating to properly support the steering column and pedal assembly.

I'm still trying to imagine what you'd be 'overtaking' with an F350 with a 223 cu in six....... And no, I'm not being a snob... I went to a 210 cu in straight six in my F350, and I have yet to overtake anyone. Hoping to come across a volkswagen bus on a hill at some point Good luck on your search. I have been tempted over the years to buy a rhd vehicle to use here in the states ( toyota landcruiser diesel etc), but being on that side just seems wrong so I feel your pain!

To the original poster - I did a bit of looking around on the internet late yesterday and found an ad from an Austrailian salvage yard parting out some 61 to 66 F Series trucks. Sorry I do not have a link for you now, but that computer is about 20 miles away right now. But somewhere over there might be the parts you will need. Maybe even cross matching part numbers from US and Australian parts list for things such as steering box, pitman arm, drag link and such might show what can be interchanged right to left.

Hi thanks for the replys. Its not just the over taking its when you want to pull out of a street you have to pull out and go on the other side of the road. And with it being LHD when you are at the back of someone you can not see on the right side ahead. Thanks hope you understand what i am trying to say.
