new guy transfer case question
Hi all! I am assisting a buddy with fixing a transfer case leak on a 95 Bronco (transfer case is a BW1356). We were able to pull the t-case off the truck, and crack open the main seal. We used a couple sockets as "anti-finger smashers" while we pulled the old gasket off and applied some new RTV to it. When we were ready to compress both sides to seal it, it wouldn't budge at all. Even thought we pulled out the sockets, it stayed in place as if they were still there bracing. We have absolutely no idea on what to do from here.
Would anyone have any good suggestions? Other than rip the whole thing apart and start over, we don't know what eles to do.
