5.0 Unexplainable Mis

I'm curious does anyone else with a 5.0 F150 have a mis between 1200 and 2000 rpm? Mine does, 2 dealers wont help me. Even after noticing "something" during a test drive with me, they are not able to repeat it on their own nor does it show any code nor will they do anything about it.

Any suggestions? The truck only has 12K on it. Sadly, it's not been a very good F150. Oh well, bad vehicles are built and I own one...

I noticed a bit of a miss with my truck at well it seemed to be between 1200 and 1500 rpms and I didn't notice it when the a/c was off. I took my rig in last week to get the "stretchy" a/c belt and tensioner because it was making a knocking sound at idle. Since then, I haven't noticed the miss. So I'm not sure if they were related... It was a small miss and otherwise the truck is running great!

Anyway, if you find out what it is let us know. And good luck.

Well I have given up with the local dealers. They offer no help. I pulled the plugs and found 2 that look worse then the others. I've replaced the plugs with a new set of motorcrafts and replaced the 2 cops on those. Seemed to improve things for about 200 miles, now the condition is back. Now thinking the injectors on those cylinders may be firing with a poor pattern. I'll try a couple new one's to see if that does anything. I've got no codes and my autotap software offers little in direction towards finding the cause. So, it's try this and try that time.

I will say, after the 5.4 3V plug change challenge, Ford did a nice job with these. It takes a couple minutes per plug to change.

If this doesn't work, I've been test driving some nice 11 super duties. So, I may just say the heck with it and buy a real truck. One that I can plow with.

I had a miss type situation or a shudder but at around 1000 rpm's. 300 miles on the truck. I asked a mechanic at my dealer and he said that he was told by ford that the modules that communicate with each other can hiccup from time to time. My suggestion to you though is that if it is a constant issue make them check into it.

Real truck, huh? If you want something that'll cost you an arm and both legs every time something goes wrong with it, then yes, a Super Duty is the best truck for you. I just got rid of my 2009, 6.4. 138,000 miles on it, and out of the blue, with no codes, it needed a DPF, DOC's, EGR Cooler, Turbo, Head Gasket, and an aluminum timing cover that got ate by the lovely gold coolant Ford uses, even though the nitrates were perfect.

Buy one and report back in 50k and tell us how the HPFP and DPF are doing. That 6.7 has issues, too, so don't be fooled. Now if you meant a gasser Super Duty, well, that's just a frame upgrade over an F150...Still not a "Real Truck"...

I'll never buy a new diesel again.

400 miles on my '12 5.0. 19.6 miles to the gallon, and I'm loving it.
