4" vs 5" exhaust

I'm getting ready to order a new Diamond Eye exhaust for my F350. I've used Diamond Eye before and felt that they are a good product especially for the price. I can get a new 4" turbo back no muffler exhaust for $249 shipped and a new 5" turbo back for $360 shipped. Is the 5" worth $100 more. I know that both use a 4" down pipe so I'm wondering if the extra inch from the down pipe back actually benefits anything.

I think the 4" will be fine too. I have a theory that no matter what size your exhaust is from the down pipe back, its really only as good as your down pipe. So my theory is that a 5" would be just more for looks since the down pipe is 4". But that is just my uneducated theory so if any of you guys know that I am wrong please let me know.

here is my 5". i custom made it. bought the downpipe, clamps hangers straight pipe and diamond eye axel over piece. took some 2400 black heat paint to it. basically its 4" downpipe, 3 feet of 4" to get past axel cross member, then from there all 5" round stock to the back. did all that for 240 bucks

I just ordered a 5in MBRP cause I hear the sound is deeper. I say go with what makes you happy.

To be honest, my 5" sounds like absolute garbage. I'm going to swap it back out to a 4" and have not decided on straight pipe or muffler yet. The sound is "sloppy" to say the least, and there is no performance gain on a moderately modded truck. I'm eating through right rear shocks as a result of the 5", and my spare tire now resides in my bed due to burning. Total bad idea for me.

I had a 4" no muffler diamond eye on a Chevy 6.5 diesel that I had and it sounded really good so I think that's what I'll go with. I've never heard a 5" but I'm thinking it wouldn't be worth the extra hundred bucks.

I have 5" on my dually from the down pipe back and like it. I cant compare it to anything because i bought it like that, but i do know i can pull 15,000 lbs and not worry about EGT's and i still have the stock air intake

I have the same truck except mine is a crew cab. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your exhaust would you?
