Guys, you should all realize that there are about six different tires that Goodyear calls "Wrangler".
In my opinion, the ATS, and SRA are the ones that people have problems with. I run the Wrangler Silentarmor, and I find them to be excellent.

As to the reason that manufacturers put P rated tires on the truck, it's to do with cost and fuel efficiency. A lighter tire can help a lot with stop/start economy. Anyone who is doing more rural driving, or who needs the off-road or higher load capability should be running something other than factory tires.

I'll go back to Cooper or similar, cost less and get about the same mileage.

If I'm not mistaken, the LTX's come with 14/32's of tread. So, after 40K and you're still showing 7/32's is pretty admirable to me.

My OE Hankooks came with 12/32's and after 35K I'm down to 6/32's. If I ran these to the wear bars I'm likely on track to get 55K out of them. Not bad for a stock OE tire.

X2
Wrangler Duratracs are also great tires.
ATS and SRA have given Goodyear a bad rap over the last several years.

The P metric LTXs that came on my 12 Screw had 11/32 new. At 38,500 they were still showing 6/32.

I put the Michelins on at 22000, I have 40000 now only 18000, not so good.
