Goodyear Wrangler vs. Michelin LTX m/s
#16
Guys, you should all realize that there are about six different tires that Goodyear calls "Wrangler".
In my opinion, the ATS, and SRA are the ones that people have problems with. I run the Wrangler Silentarmor, and I find them to be excellent.
As to the reason that manufacturers put P rated tires on the truck, it's to do with cost and fuel efficiency. A lighter tire can help a lot with stop/start economy. Anyone who is doing more rural driving, or who needs the off-road or higher load capability should be running something other than factory tires.

I put a set of the M/S2's on my '11 Lariat Screw at about 22000 miles after my Pirellis were shot. Not overly pleased with the Michelins. Just hit 40000 had them rotated for the 4th time and they reported the tread depth to be 7/32. Wearing pretty quick, I'll be needing a set by next winter since I drive in snow. I'll go back to Cooper or similar, cost less and get about the same mileage.

My OE Hankooks came with 12/32's and after 35K I'm down to 6/32's. If I ran these to the wear bars I'm likely on track to get 55K out of them. Not bad for a stock OE tire.

Wrangler Duratracs are also great tires.
ATS and SRA have given Goodyear a bad rap over the last several years.

If I'm not mistaken, the LTX's come with 14/32's of tread. So, after 40K and you're still showing 7/32's is pretty admirable to me.
