Pics of my '1948 F6
I just joined the ford forums for my 1977 F250, but I though I'd also post of few pics of my 1948 F6 that I also bought recently. It had been sitting in some swampy woods near town for about 25 years. Missing the engine, tranny, all the glass, and the flatbed is kind of rotting (there was a 2" pine tree growing through it)... but still really cute truck (according to my girlfriend). Going to park it in the yard, paint it up a little, and build a little kids playhouse on the back.
With my 1956 Chevy 2 ton stakebed.

Welcome to the board.
Sometimes these old trucks are too far gone to make a restoration feasible. Sometimes lawn art is the best thing for them. It still keeps the interest in these old beasts alive.
Your idea of using it as a playhouse platform is unique, I like it. Just make sure you try to take care of any pieces of sharp metal. I'm not a safety ninny but there are a lot of rusty pieces that a little one could get caught on. Once you have it up make sure you post pictures.

Nice collection of trucks. Welcome to FTE.
Before I saw your location I thought maybe the truck was from Havi ( though I recognized the Hood) Just Kidding Havi...
They are never to far gone, just do like I've been doing for my f1 and my F6, Replace everything on it with good parts from a donor truck rather than fix the better condition donor truck... I know sounds dumb but wheres the fun in just driving them...
I personally like the playhouse Idea, maybe I should roll my F6 around back and do the same thing.

I blame MY F-6 project on my wife, She's always telling me what to do!
I can't say no, she said you should restore that thing so we can use it in the parade's.
I keep telling her that when it's done I'm handing her the keys and it's her's, Heaven forebid she ever drive it though, the way she tailgates....

Yard art is cool!! My truck has been a big hit with everybody who has come up my driveway. Here's those 2 threads and my latest picture (had to wait till almost 10 days after Christmas for some snow). Welcome to FTE!!

So....... Maybe I will restore it. I've been batting around the idea of turning it into my daily driver work truck. Which would mean putting the cab on a 4wd f250 chassis (probably my '77 highboy though I could also sell that and get a different chassis I guess). I already have a working two ton truck (the '56 chevy), so I am less inclined to just stick a new engine and transmission in there and get the two ton chassis running. But I love the look of the '48 cab vs other newer stuff. How easy is it to get glass for it? All the metal is there, albeit a little dented. I think the rear axle (two speed) and frame is good -- not bad rust -- so I'd be into selling that to someone who needed it. Any thoughts on this idea?

Glass is probably the easiest part to find. Any place that will cut glass should be able to cut the glass for you. Beware, you need special glass for the windsheild. Nothing odd, it just has to be a better highway grade than the glass in the sides and back. When I got my glass cut many years ago I was told this. Do search of FTE on glass and you should find the answer.
If glass is one of the easiest things for your truck a frame swap will be the hardest. There recently a couple of discussions about frame swaps. Again, do a search of FTE and you find pages upon pages with discussions.
