Hi All
Just wanted to say hello and thanks in advance for any help and responses to my impending flood of questions re: 53 Ford F100 Trucks .

Its taken a very long 3 months to have my truck shipped over from the US and now its here cant wait to get started on her.

I will post the first question in a min , so as to keep this short and sweet.

I intend to keep the truck as standard as possible but with maybe a few safety upgrades {disc brakes} done , but the rusty body is likely to stay.

So for now I'm well glad to be here ...

All best
Greg

Welcome to FTE

If you're planning on installing hubcaps, you cannot use the originals (except on the left front wheel), because a previous owner installed 1965 and later wheels that are called "outies."

Outie wheels have the tabs the hubcaps snap onto on the outside of the wheels center section.

The original wheels were "innies," so called because the hubcaps snap over tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

15 & 16" innie wheels were used thru 1966. Outies were introduced in 1965.

Welcome to FTE! You started off right by posting pictures. We love pictures.
Search around the site, there is a lot of very valuable information. Folk here don't seem to mind if questions are asked over and over again. (Or else I would be in trouble.)

We all have our opinions on how things should be done and usually are free with that info, but we all respect that it's your truck and you can do what you like...just as long as it's safe.

We look forward to your progress.

Welcome to the forum! That looks like a really nice truck, especially compared to many we've seen here. I see it has a California license plate. That's usually a good thing. Tell us the story of how you happened to acquire it? What it took to get it to you, etc? These old trucks are hard enough to build here in the states. I always admire those who restore old American cars off our continent.

Make sure you touch base with "Holmsey". He's a brit (maybe close to you) who built a beautiful '55.

This is his FTE gallery: Ford Truck Enthusiasts User Gallery

Welcome
