Welcome to the FTE forum. When I first looked at the photo of your truck I thought that you really had some work ahead of you but then I remembered the 63 Austin-Healey BJ7 that I bought years ago (in a basket) thinking that it was a great find...it wasn't near as nice as your 53. Good luck with your resto...

Greg, get yourself a copy of Midfifty's catalogue they will send one over to you no problem. Also try Hot Rods Truck parts, I have dealt with them and they are very helpful (plus my truck is pictured on the front cover at the moment!). Both will send parts to the UK no problems.

I usually order direct from the US as the suppliers over here add such a huge markup on the price, just be careful to check out what vat/import tax will be added on arrival (plus any admin fee by the carrier as it does vary anything between 8-25 on top of the vat etc). Also, you will be charged VAT on the shipping cost as well as the cost of parts which is very annoying. That said, it usually still works out cheaper - get a list of stuff together and ship in bulk at once to keep the costs down.

Califonia connection (uk outlet is up in Derby somewhere) do have some used parts for our trucks - they usually need some work but are generally solid - maybe check them out if you need any larger sheetmetal parts. I got a good set of running boards off them for a very reasonable price.

Any questions contact me anytime,
Mark

Well it was a toss-up {old english saying} between the odvious Chevy , Ford or my fist look was an International , I wanted something that looked "tough" and so the Chevy went out the door , looks to pretty and too expensive , next was spares situation , so out went the International , so that left the Ford , early ones too expensive and just struck it lucky on e-bay with this '53. Its going to haul my restored bikes to meets and scare the neighbours !

Thats all really , oh plus my olde man {father} swears by Fords , having a transit van for over 30yrs !

Its the smaller Y block and I've kinda been scared away due to horrendous parts / rebuld prices ....

I may have a 351 Winsor lined up from a local shop , see how that pans out !

All best

The 351W would make a very nice addition to your truck. Especially in your situation.

I got to say, though, being from England and all, I thought you of all people would know Windsor has a d in the middle of it.

There's a village in Hampshire (where the OP is from) called Winsor so it's easy to get confused.
