Thanks for the picture Brain. That's the air cleaner I've been looking to purchase... but... here's the pictures from the parts catalog(s) posted on the van pelt website:
Based on these images, the air cleaner in the photo you posted looks more like the "correct" v8 air cleaner rather than the I6. YET they are not interchangeable. Problem is that the throat size is larger for the 2 bbl holley 94 (v8) versus the single barrel holley 847/897 (I6). Plus both service part numbers are 9600. Hence my frustration and confusion...
Brian's air cleaner appears to be the correct one. It's actually slightly smaller, IIRC, than the V8 air cleaner. Needhelp's air cleaner appears to be from a car.
would you consider taking out the oil pump and sending that separately. I'm in Ontario, Canada and have already rebuilt the engine but the oil pump is missing a gear?
i think lmc has brand new ones or macs i just saw them the other day. not sure i want to bust it up and i just finished six weeks of radiation and not sure i'm up to pulling a motor apart. heck i couldn't even get up and take a pic of it this weekend
Not to worry...your health is more important than anything. I have not found anyone that has new ones either though. There are only 4 bolts to remove and it just pulls out, but take care of yourself...I'll keep looking.
